Kabita Akhtar

Solicitor

Solicitor in the housing litigation team

Kabita is a solicitor in the housing litigation team, based in our Manchester office. She provides legal advice and acts on behalf of registered providers of social housing as well as local authorities. She works on a wide range of housing-related matters.

Kabita has transitioned from representing tenants to defending landlords and is responsible for managing and negotiating settlements for a large caseload of landlord disrepair claims, from initial instructions through to trial. Before joining Anthony Collins, she completed her training contract at a claimant firm where she represented tenants in housing disrepair claims against residential landlords, including councils and social housing associations.

Her experience working on both sides of disrepair claims allows her to make strategic decisions and provide clients with comprehensive legal advice, whilst also addressing the commercial and financial considerations which clients may want to consider when assessing the prospects of a case. This well-rounded approach supports our clients in achieving the best results commercially and importantly enables our clients to have full trust and confidence in the decisions they make. She has expanded on her housing litigation expertise and now works on ASB Possession cases and injunctions.
