The SRA and APIL accredited programme included presentations from Satinder Hunjan QC – No5 Chambers on “Paediatric brain injury” and Dr Sophie Thomas – Clinical Psychologist in Paediatric Neurosurgery at Queen’s Medical Centre on “Maturation of the brain – Is it a case of wait and see”. Gill Browne, Deputyship and Probate Manager at Anthony Collins Solicitors also presented on “Court of Protection and benefit related issues for children with a brain injury”.
Attendees included legal and health care professionals from locations across the UK, all working with children with brain injury supporting them through legal, medical and rehabilitation steps.
Rachel Ritter of CBIT said, “I would like to say a huge thank you for hosting yesterday’s legal seminar. Please do pass on our sincere thanks to the reception staff and also to Jackie who helped to pull it all together for us. It makes such a difference to be able to have such a fantastic venue at our disposal. Without your generosity, it wouldn’t be viable for us to run such valuable events. The initial feedback appears to be very positive.”
Rob Thomas, Chair of the Trustees also commented, “Another excellent seminar with thought provoking speakers at a great venue. It was a pleasure to be involved.”
“Every 30 minutes, a child or young person will acquire a brain injury. This could be the result of an accident, an illness such as meningitis or encephalitis, a poisoning, a stroke or a brain tumour.” Source: http://childbraininjurytrust.org.uk/
