Anthony Collins Solicitors (ACS) has been named Family Law Firm of the Year: Midlands and Wales at the prestigious Family Law Firm Awards.
The awards recognise the outstanding achievements of the family law community and its members’ vital contribution to society. The shortlisted finalists were judged on their work providing legal services to families in need.
In 2020, the ACS family team acted in nearly half (approximately 48%) of all care orders issued in Birmingham – where authorities assume legal responsibility for a child. They also supported 51 couples through mediation over the past year.
Peter Hubbard, senior partner at Anthony Collins Solicitors, said:
“Family law can be one of the most challenging and rewarding sectors of our profession. We have the opportunity to help families as they look to overcome challenges that could impact the rest of their and their children’s lives.
This recognition of the team’s work is incredibly welcome. I am immensely proud of the positive impact we have had in this area, especially over the last 18 months as the pandemic has brought additional pressures and disruption to families.”
ACS’s family team has recently seen one of its partners, Chris Lloyd-Smith, appointed as Chair of Resolution West Midlands, the largest membership organisation advocating for a non-confrontational approach to resolving family law issues. Chris leads the West Midlands branch of more than 250 members, providing training and education to help members support families and individuals during difficult times.
The Family Law Awards accolade follows ACS winning Law Firm of the Year: The Independents at The Lawyer Awards 2021, for the firm’s work supporting the health and social care sector with legal advice throughout the pandemic.
