He becomes only the fifth senior partner since the firm’s launch in 1973, and takes up the role from Romaine Thompson after her nine-year tenure.
ACS already has a national name for its specialist expertise in charities, social housing and local government sectors, as well as private client work.
In his new role, Mr Hubbard is focussed on raising the firm’s reputation for the values it has that motivate many of its advisors to work across the country.
He said: “My aim is for ACS to be known as a values based firm with nationally recognised expertise and influence across the third and public sectors.
“We have a key role to play in advising the public and third sectors on the cuts that will have to be implemented if the government is to achieve its deficit reduction targets, whoever is in power.
“Importantly, we are committed to implementing new models of delivery for public services that are likely to be placed in the hands of the voluntary, mutual, charity and private sectors as well as the newly commercialised public sector.
“We are already well on the way to achieving this vision in terms of the quality of client work we have and our national client base.”
Equally, as a leading firm in childcare, Court of Protection and clinical negligence work, Mr Hubbard is looking to expand its wealth management work for private clients.
“I am looking forward to matching this national reputation in the local government, health and social care, and schools sectors.
“It is both exciting and a privilege to steward ACS, its clients and its people, for the next season.”
Peter is nationally recognised as one of the leading social housing specialists in the UK. Previously, he was a partner with ACS for 14 years leading complex transactions in the housing corporate and governance team.
Advising on nationally recognised housing projects, he has been ranked ‘Leading Individual’ in Chambers UK for eight consecutive years and is also a past Commercial Solicitor of the Year at the Birmingham Legal Awards.
Handing over the reins, Romaine Thompson added: “Peter is an exceptionally able successor with the drive and passion to take the firm forward and I’m eagerly anticipating playing my part in supporting his vision for the next phase of the firm’s development.”
