Isabella Davies
“I joined Anthony Collins (AC) in August 2022 having taken part in the vacation scheme in summer 2021. I studied psychology as my undergraduate degree and then completed the LLB for graduates followed by the LPC, graduating in August 2022. During a psychology placement at a women’s centre, I found that many of the psychological stressors women were experiencing stemmed from legal issues they were facing. This sparked my interest in law.
When researching law firms before commencing my training contract, I was looking for a firm that shared my values and where social purpose was at the forefront. I was drawn to AC due to the firm’s commitment to changing lives, communities and society.
Since joining the firm, I’ve come to appreciate that it’s truly committed to social purpose. Not only is our client base generally charities, housing associations and local authorities but trainees are also encouraged to take part in and organise numerous fundraising activities for a variety of charities. I have been involved in many bake sales, organising a competition, taking part in the Great Birmingham Run and organising a trainee away day with a charity client. I am also running the 2025 London Marathon on behalf of another of our charity clients.
I have undertaken seats in housing management, personal injury and clinical negligence, commercial litigation and property litigation. I qualified at the end of August 2024 into the property litigation department. Before starting my training contract, I believed I was going to be a private client lawyer however after completing a seat in commercial and property Litigation, I found that I enjoyed it and decided I wanted to qualify there. Although you are not acting for individuals, you still get the rewarding feeling of helping people due to our client base.”
