Championing our LGBT+ community

Here at Anthony Collins Solicitors (ACS), we have an LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender plus) network, which not only discusses current issues but also helps us to decide how we can celebrate different initiatives together, including LGBT History Month and Pride Month.

The ACS LGBT+ group was set up in 2019. There are three facets to the group.

Firstly, the Chair sits on the firm’s committee for equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring that LGBT+ staff at ACS are properly represented at the highest of levels and are able to feed into new policies and procedures.

Secondly, the group acts as a support network for any LGBT+ staff who feel they might want someone to talk to from within the community.

Thirdly, the group arranges lots of fun social events that anyone can take part in, such as quizzes (with prizes!) and after-work drinks.

Since its inception, the group has grown in numbers and gone from strength to strength. It has always had and continues to have, overwhelming support from across the firm. To show our ever-growing support, we recently attended the Pride parade with Birmingham Law Society.

“I am very happy to say that I have never felt discriminated against or held back by the fact that I am a gay man. I am also proud of the fact that Anthony Collins Solicitors has an LGBT+ group and that we had the opportunity to march at Birmingham Pride.”
