Gender and Ethnicity Pay Gap report 2024

“Equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) is integral to our culture as a social purpose law firm. We are passionate about breaking down gender and ethnicity barriers and are fully committed to building a truly diverse, inclusive and equitable working environment that is best for our people, our clients and sustainable business success.

2024 has seen the launch of our new, ambitious three-year ED&I strategy, driven by our vision to be a place where everyone feels they belong, believes they can succeed, knows they are respected and trusts they are represented. Key goals include:

  • diversity – improving representation among the firm’s leadership;
  • equity – improving access to routes into law, and support to all through development and career opportunities and coaching and mentoring options;
  • inclusion – promoting a fully inclusive workplace where people trust they can have a successful career and truly be themselves.

We are delighted to see that we have made further progress through the results of our 2024 gender and ethnicity pay gap (GPG and EPG) report. Our overall mean and median pay gaps have decreased this year (mean by 4% to 13.6%, and median by 1.7% to 30.3%.) We have seen a considerable decrease in the mean and median pay gaps within the partnership (our mean has reduced by 4.7% and median by 9.6%). The recruitment of three female partners during the year has helped to close the gap further and means we have surpassed our target of 45% female partners.

We are pleased to see that 94.6% of our people are now comfortable disclosing their ethnicity. Regrettably, although we have seen a decrease in our mean EPG, our median EPG has increased. It remains a priority for us to improve pay equity and fairness in career progression for those who are ethnically diverse within the firm.

We are proud of the progress made this year, although we continue to look for ways in which we can improve equity and opportunity for all, driven by our bold new ED&I strategy.”
